April Makeup tips

Always remember that while using the cosmetics on a daily basis you should use only quality products.

Therefore choosing the cosmetics is an important step as it is directly related to the skin care and health.

For the purpose of daily makeup usually powder cosmetics are preferred because they not only keep the shine under control but also contain less preservatives and skin irritants as compared to the liquid ones.

In case you cannot avoid use of the liquid foundation then you should opt for one, that has a silicone base because the silicone base does not cause acne.  Or you can try a great silicone based primer to go under.  Its a great buy and usually will last 6 months to a year.

If you apply makeup daily then you also need to remove it daily and for this you may need to use the makeup remover.   I recommend Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart brand makeup remover wipes for the face and a great eye makeup remover.  You shouldn't be using water to take off eye makeup, because the eye makeup will get in your pores and can cause blackheads from the pigments.

But remember that using makeup remover to clean out waterproof cosmetics also wipes out the protective layer of sebum from the skin, therefore you should use waterproof cosmetics only occasionally and not on routine basis.

You should never use the cosmetics that have crossed their expiry dates because it could be extremely harmful.

You should also wash and clean the makeup brushes and sponges regularly.

Normal life span of the cosmetics

- Mascaras: about 3 to 4 months

- Foundations: last for 1 year

- Lipsticks: last for 1 year

- Powder: last for about 2 years

- Eye shadows: last for about 2 years.

For the purpose of daily makeup Pencil eyeliner and eyebrow pencils that are wax based should be preferred because they can be cleaned off easily by using water only.

For the daily makeup light earth tones are preferable as they not only give a natural look but also are less likely to cause skin irritation than the darker colors.

You should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen. The sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor 15 or higher and with ingredients such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide is very effective in avoiding the harmful effects of UVA rays.

Though nail polishes are very important for giving a beautiful look to your hands but they are not for daily use.

For a quick pedicure you should scrape the dead skin off the soles of your feet after shower using an emery board.

You should rub them over with lotion or olive oil or petroleum jelly and push back the cuticles of your toenails.

You can wear socks all the time to maintain them.

For a quick manicure you can follow the similar procedure.

You can maintain them by wearing gloves at night. Make sure to have a nice creamy anti aging lotion on your hands to prevent aging.

The NO MAKEUP, Makeup look

If you take a look at today’s runways, then you will see how the natural look is very big right now. And as we move into warmer temperatures and brighter seasons, you want to focus on a makeup look that is both easy and natural. Take it from women like Jennifer Aniston who seem to have mastered that no makeup look that gives them that sexy girl next door appeal and still makes her look uber sexy. And the best part of having a natural look is that not only does it look fantastic, but it is super easy to accomplish as well. Follow these four simple steps to create a beauty routine that is easy and fast, and results in a clean fresh face that will make people smile time and time again.

Step 1 – Cleanse cleanse cleanse. No matter what look you are going for, any beauty look requires a clean and fresh face that is properly cleansed and moisturized. You want your no makeup look to last all day long, and a properly cleansed face will do just that. Moisturizer also helps to even our your makeup as you apply, and is a wonderful way to soften those fine lines before you put on your makeup.  For extra help

Step 2 – Go easy on the foundation. Many women make the mistake of piling on the foundation to cover up any rough spots, but top celebrity makeup artists only use foundation where it is needed. Use the right color that matches your skin tone, and dab it onto your problem areas such as your dark circles, crows feet, or any small blemishes. If you are confused about color choice for foundation, always go lighter than your skin tone, as shades darker than your skin tone are going to create that pancake face that nobody likes.  Or you can always come see me for a custom foundation!

Step 3 – Go neutral on the eyes. For a no makeup look, you have to look like you aren’t wearing makeup, so you want to choose neutral shades that blend with your skin tone but complement your features. Neutral eye tones are key here, and you want your lighter shades closer to your brow bones, and your highlighting shades on the creases of your eye. In fact, a simple light shade to your brow is all you really need for a no makeup day look, and you can add your highlighting shade in your creases before you go out at night. For shades you want to think coffee tones, light browns, and some shimmery beige’s are very pretty by day as well.

Step 4 – One coat of mascara will do. The final touch on your no makeup look will be some mascara. There are women that can go without mascara and still look fabulously undone, but most women prefer a little definition here and there is nothing wrong with that. For day looks that carry that no makeup appeal, one coat is all you need to do the trick of defining your eyes but minimizing the product. You also want to choose colors that aren’t black, as this color is a little too dramatic for a no makeup look. Some soft browns will go a long way here, and brown mascara has a way of adding intensity to any skin tone, without looking like you went overboard.
The key to establishing a no makeup look is to use products that are neutral in color and complement your skin tones. Light hands are going to work better for you here as well. Finish your no makeup look off with a dusting of sheer or translucent powder, and you are ready for the day!

Motivating others. The greatest reward is changing lives

Motivation can be a life changing event.  Whether its getting involved in local community events, charities like Big Brothers, Big Sisters or just meeting someone and touching their lives.  Motivating others isn't about pushing your thoughts or ideas on someone, but really focusing on bringing them up and encouraging them.  Sometimes just a friendly hello or asking someone how they are can bring up their mood for the day, assuring them that someone out there cares.

In my line of business, its all about Motivation.  Whether I'm interviewing someone for a position for my clients and helping them with resume and interview preparation or when I'm doing someone's makeup and helping them bring out their natural beauty and accentuate their features.  I make sure to tell them about my walk with God and how I enjoy spreading the Good News.  I'm not here to save anyone...  I'm here to be an example as Christ did for me.  You can't force anything on someone, you encourage and motivate them which makes them wonder.....  How can I be like that?

The BEST full color Lip Gloss EVER

Its ALL about the LIPS!!!  Its what reminds men of what they want....  It creates a clean and finished palate of your face.  You aren't finished with a look without a great lipstick, lip shine, lip gloss or lip plumper.  No maatter what your look, you have to finish it off.

Make sure to treat your lips: exfoliate, hydrate and smooth.

So first of all...  I LOVE the Motives Full Color Lip Shine in Tease.  I can't seem to keep this on the shelves!  All my girls demand it and when I am out and about people ask about what I'm wearing.  This is the greatest color because it compliments every skin tone, every outfit, every season...  Its a pinky-peach color with a slight bronze shimmer undertone to it.  See it on my favorite celeb:

A great new line of products for your lips are our new colored LIP PLUMPERS.  I love them so much I have a compartment in my handbag just for lip plumpers.  Well, and my tube of TEASE Lip Shine.  Every color in the lip plumpers is amazing and I think they ALL look good on me.  But I'm in love with color and love to take chances.  My chances always pay off though!  Take a chance with a new lip product.  You won't be sorry.  I can guarantee it!

Black nail polish. Love it or hate it?

A lot of celebs, including Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba and Lady Gaga have been sporting it for the last year or so and The Limited Edition Chanel Black Satin nail polish is sold out everywhere!

In fact the only place I found to buy it online is eBay.
A recent auction for one bottle of the color went for $47.02!.

Tips For Making Black Nail Polish Glam not Goth
Number one: Keep 'em short. Dark nails should be finger-tip length with a rounded-square shape.  Fully round, longer nails will really look goth and you might get weird looks.

Number two: Devise an anti-chip strategy: Use ridge filler as a base to stop bleeding; keep polish off your cuticles and refresh your topcoat every third day.  Black nails need to be manicured at least once every two weeks.  Chipping is not okay and will look very unrefined.

Number Three:  Only wear neutrals (or more black). Bright outfits or red lips are too much with dark nails.

****Primary Benefits of Motives® Nail Candy Trend Kit: *****
•Long-lasting color • Brilliant, chip-free finish • Easy, smooth application • High gloss finish • 8 sexy, trend-setting colors for every look  • Free of toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

Christian: What the web says and WHAT ARE YOU???

The Greek word Χριστιανός (christianos)—meaning "follower of Christ"—comes from Χριστός (christos)—meaning "anointed one"[4]—with an adjectival ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to, or even belonging to, as in slave ownership.[5] In the Greek Septuagint, christos was used to translate the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Mašíaḥ, messiah), meaning "[one who is] anointed."[6] In other European languages, equivalent words to 'Christian' are likewise derived from the Greek, such as 'Chrétien' in French and 'Cristiano' in Spanish.

I've been told that Christian is "follower of Christ" or "Christlike " which leads me to believe that we must emulate our lives as Jesus did to be following him or being like him.

Are you like Christ?  Do you love unconditionally?  Do you judge others with fairness? Do you hold grudges?  Do you love people and forgive people even though "they don't deserve it?"

Think about that......

Baylor University study

The Baylor University Institute for Studies of Religion conducted a survey covering various aspects of American religious life.[13] Analysis of the data is ongoing, but some preliminary results show that Americans may be expressing their faith somewhat differently according to their particular beliefs.

A third of Americans (33.6 percent), roughly 100 million people, are Evangelical Protestants by affiliation.

The majority (62.9 percent) of Americans not affiliated with a religious tradition believe in God or some higher power.

Baylor researchers found that the type of god people believe in can predict their political and moral attitudes more so than just looking at their religious tradition. They identified four major concepts of God among Christians, though none of the four dominated belief:

31 Percent believe in an Authoritarian God who is very judgmental and engaged.

25 Percent believe in a Benevolent God who is not judgmental but is engaged.

23 Percent believe in a Distant God who is completely removed.

16 Percent believe in a Critical God who is judgmental but not engaged.

Christianity Today study

Another study, conducted by Christianity Today with Leadership magazine, attempted to understand the range and differences among American Christians. A national attitudinal and behavioral survey found that their beliefs and practices clustered into five distinct segments. Spiritual growth for two large segments of Christians may be occurring in non-traditional ways. Instead of attending church on Sunday mornings, many opt for personal, individual ways to stretch themselves spiritually.[14]

19 percent of American Christians are described by the researchers as Active Christians. They believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ, attend church regularly, are Bible readers, invest in personal faith development through their church, believe they are obligated to share their faith with others, and accept leadership positions in their church.

20 percent are referred to as Professing Christians. They also are committed to "accepting Christ as Savior and Lord" as the key to being a Christian, but focus more on personal relationships with God and Jesus than on church, Bible reading or evangelizing.

16 percent fall into a category named Liturgical Christians. They are predominantly Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, or Orthodox. They are regular churchgoers, have a high level of spiritual activity and recognize the authority of the church.

24 percent are considered Private Christians. They own a Bible but don't tend to read it. Only about one-third attend church at all. They believe in God and in doing good things, but not necessarily within a church context. This was the largest and youngest segment. Almost none are church leaders.

21 percent in the research are called Cultural Christians. These do not view Jesus as essential to salvation. They exhibit little outward religious behavior or attitudes. They favor a universality theology that sees many ways to God. Yet, they clearly consider themselves to be Christians.

All I have to say to this is John 14:6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Read your bible.  Live the Word.  Be an example and willing to be a leader.  You can't spread the Word of God with pursed lips.

The real secret to flawless, lasting makeup.

Primers and bases.  If you don't have them, get them.

Face Perfecting Primer
Some people say it feels like you are putting silk on your face.  And guess what.. your foundation goes on totally smooth then!  I contains silicone that smoothes out everything.  It creates a nice even tone and even helps mask some of those little lines on your face.  Its really the pros secret to flawless foundation.  Well and brushes of course!

Eye Base and Cream Eyeshadows and Liners
If you like daring colors or just want your eye makeup to stay on and show up, use these.  Its really easy to apply.  Using your fingers or a flat stiff eyeshadow brush, you sweep over the lip and then take a blender brush and blend into the crease.  Apply your favorite shadows (darkest at the outer edge is best), apply some shimmer to your tear duct and you'll look amazing in no time.

I'll be posting videos soon as I get new lighting in my studio.  For any questions, please subscribe and comment!

Work work work

So the market has been picking up and I thought that my life would just be ministry, music and makeup....  ALAS my staffing gig that I've had since the market crashed is booming and I'm actually so busy I can't currently see straight.  I've looked at so many resumes daily and talked with so many people the lines are blurred.  I pray that I can touch people and get them placed into new careers.  I love helping others and I want God's presence to show through me always.

Although, I'd love a full time job just doing music.  I'm still praying for that.  LOL

In the meantime, here are pictures of my little princess

Addison Road....

Check out Jenny Simmons http://www.jennysimmons.com/ and her horrible journey that ended in losing everything but their lives.  God has his hands on us and I believe that she will come out of this amazing.  But its hard at first.  You must have faith.

Cable vs. Satellite Internet

Well I was duped.  I live in an area where there is only two providers.  Consolidated Communications and Direct TV/Dish Network.  Cable or Satellite.  What to do?

You cannot connect to a VPN or VoIP with Satellite Internet.  No matter what the sales person tells you.  Now I'm stuck with a $200 Satellite on my roof.  UGH

Welcome to my blogspot

I would like to welcome you to my Blogspot.  I've decided to add this to my repitoire of online social networks because I want to be able to show what's going on in my life and also give makeup advice.

I will hopefully keep up with it daily, but with my ADD, anything is possible.

Love you all!
Blessings from above,

Marlies
